Well I'm trying to get my dad to eat healthier (he's supposedly on a diet) and I've been trying to eat healthier myself, so I decided I would google reasons to become vegetarian/vegan to convince myself further. And I am so glad I did. I wish everybody in the US was forced to sit down and be told all of this information I just read. And I'm still reading more.
If you've ever had a dog or some other kind of pet, you would know that they have emotions. Fear, joy, sorrow, etc. Before today, I knew dogs had feelings, but I just somehow assumed that cows and chickens didn't. I now realize that was a ridiculous thing to believe. They have emotions just like we do. Therefore, it's perfectly fair to put yourself in the animals' situations.
Imagine this: As soon as you are born, you are taken to a cage with others of your kind. You have so little space, you can't even stretch out your arms. You sit in your own and others' waste. The food is horrible and contains chemicals designed to make you fat. You might get so fat that you can't even move. You might even die just inches from your water supply. You never breathe fresh air, you never go outside, and you never see light. You are kept in the darkness with barely any breathing room.
Once you're fat enough, they'll throw you in a truck with lots of others, and there's even less space then before. You ride through extreme weather conditions, and you are never given food the entire trip. Some have already died. If you happen to survive, you are taken out of the truck and then hung upside down by your feet. You and others are hanging upside down in rows, and as every minute passes, you are getting closer to your death. Your neck is slit, but it might not kill you. Sometimes, when they skin you or hack you to pieces, you will still be conscious.
Surely, becoming a vegetarian would be worth it. 1. It lowers your health risks and you will live a whole lot longer. 2. It helps the enviornment. 3. It will feed starving children all over the world. 4. It will stop a whole lot of animal cruelty.
Why not?
